Mobile Wedding Planning:  A Novel Concept

Grace Ormonde mag coverBefore “My Big Fat Fake Wedding”, before the “Faux Wedding” there was The Mobile Wedding Planning Experience (also known as The Mobile Bridal Faire), developed and copyrighted by Santa Barbara Wine Country Weddings & Events CEO/Founder Kerry Lee Dickey in 2004.

Ms. Dickey’s ground-breaking industry concept earned her the attention of upscale luxury national wedding resource Grace Ormonde Wedding Style Magazine, where they created an exclusive category for her as well as The Texas Board of Tourism who contacted Ms. Dickey for consultation on how this was done to further their destination wedding revenue stream.

The concept: to create an efficient and magical experience for brides seeking to host their wedding in the destination hotspot of Santa Barbara and showcase 5 “faux” weddings and receptions at 5 different locations in one day.  Attendees are chauffeured in style and arrive as a guest would, with each wedding having a different feel and theme, and at which guests can witness event supply partners right in their element, showcasing their services and not just at a booth at a traditional bridal fair.  The result was a “win” for both bride and event partner:  many brides planned the whole of their wedding in one day and many vendors actually received bookings on the spot, something very rare and generally not found with traditional bridal fairs.

Each year the Mobile Wedding Planning Experience evolves into new locations, new vendors, new concepts.  But regardless of the business side of it, this concept is just fantastic  fun, providing couples a relaxed and pampered way to plan a wedding and get inspired!
