The historic Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort has been serving generations of families. What few don’t realize is that it’s not a typical resort: it is almost like a time-share where families have certain dates they traditionally come and stay every year, their favorite dining table and other unique aspects that don’t allow someone outside their regular clientele to typically just pick up and stay at the ranch on a whim for a quick overnight like a regular hotel. But when you’ve had the opportunity to stay at the ranch, you’ll understand why. And staying any shorter than 2 nights isn’t worth doing, truly.Read More >>
Bride Megan’s family have been long time guests of the legendary and historic Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort, like so many of the couples who choose to exchange vows at the ranch. Alisal holds a deeply meaningful place in the family traditions of so many. Megan and Joe hosted their wedding ceremony in one of the ranch’s main pastures, with cocktails in the Sycamore Room, a gorgeous dinner at Creekside under the canopying Sycamore trees, ending with dancing and more fun back in the Sycamore Room for the rest of the evening. We decided to put the majority of focus of design where guests would be spending most of their time: cocktails, dinner and dancing.

When Jennie approached me about being her Wedding Coordinator and I discovered that she considered herself like the character Charlotte from the popular series “Sex and The City” and that she was every bit a charming as the lovely Charlotte and had smarts to go with it, I knew this would be a wonderful working relationship. I later found out that the Father of the Bride is a beloved Judge in our community and that the Mother of the Bride, Hannah Beth Jackson (now a California State Senator) has been a respected prosecutor and actively involved in our local and state-wide community for years. This was a very loving, involved and connected family and it was an honor to have been chosen as their Wedding Coordinator.Read More >>
Throughout my years as a Santa Barbara wedding planner, I am always intrigued why some clients choose to hire event supply partners (vendors) outside our area when we have world-class providers right here. 99.9% of all my clients are from outside Santa Barbara. I’ve observed that that about 1% of clients hire outside-of-the-area vendors because they have a friend who is in the business and will provide the service at no charge; about 5% are from the Los Angeles area and are drawn to a service in their hometown that they can access more easily for appointments and are led to think that no service in Santa Barbara would be able to provide what they are getting in Los Angeles (in extremely rare cases, the latter may be true, depending on the detail of what the client is searching for). But the majority of Santa Barbara wedding clients will save up to 75% by hiring a world-class local event supply partner. FRead More >>
When Scott Topper first asked me if I wanted to co-produce and coordinate for his Party Time with Scott Topper show for 2016, I was honored. He told me straight up that the show was like “community theater” and when he said that, he had my heart and attention. Having a background in musical theater and also loving to support community, I knew the spirit in which the show would be produced and couldn’t wait. Shows like this are all heart. With an audience that reaches approximately three times the amount the Santa Barbara Bowl holds, as well as 5 million homes being able to watch the show on ROKU, this was a great opportunity to showcase some real collaborative talent and have fun.
The first order of business for me was to come up with something fresh for his show for the new year, something that had not been done yet. The sets in the past were gorgeous, and each year only got more beautiful. They were a lovely backdrop for guests to come, sit and be interviewed about their job. And while this is the basis for the show, I wanted the way they were presented to be different. I wanted to focus on a viewer “experience”, and do something different for 2016 that added dimension.Read More >>
I instantly adored Amy and Jeff, who were fun-loving individuals and knew exactly what they wanted. They were a wedding planner’s dream client, always in a great mood, gave timely responses that were indicative of a clear self-knowledge, which of course, makes my job easier. Amy and Jeff chose to have their charming wine country wedding at Alisal River Terrace, a satellite location associated with the main legendary & historic Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort.
Jeff and Amy exchanged their vows in front of the intimate lake at Alisal River Terrace and afterwards guests adjourned up to the terrace for a delightful cocktail hour with sweeping views of the wine country hillside and as the sun set, and the stars came out, enjoyed the glow of fire bowls, italian fire heaters, dancing under the stars and making s’mores! You can check out video highlights of their day here.Read More >>
Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort has been hosting memorable weddings for generations. In fact, it has been the locale of celebrity nuptials starting with Clark Gable and Lady Sylvia many years ago. Besides offering picture-perfect backdrops for the nature and woodland-inspired wedding, the main ranch offers exclusivity for wedding couples, their families and guests, with a ranch buy-out (or in some cases, a “partial” buy-out). Alisal is not a typical hotel and because it focuses on a dedicated daily “program” for guests that is part of the Alisal legendary guest experience, all weddings require a “buy-out” of some kind, so Alisal can deliver the experience and service for which it is known. There are several options for Alisal Guest Ranch weddings and receptions and one of our absolute favorites isRead More >>
