When NACE Reno/Tahoe asked me to do a workshop on generating immediate revenue for wedding businesses for my other company division, Engaging Inspiration, I was delighted. When I found out that my presentation was going to be in the newly-renovated wedding chapel of The Grand Sierra Resort, I was absolutely tickled. I love originality and creative locations and how could a presenter ask for a more elegant setting for a wedding industry presentation than in a wedding chapel?
It was quickly evident from photos that The Grand Sierra Resort is a Reno destination wedding dream location with its proximity to all the entertainment and casinos as well as easy access to Lake Tahoe, a honeymooner’s paradise. I was particularly impressed by the distinctively elegant bride’s and groom’s changing lounges, offering a lovely place to rest and relax before the walk down the aisle. And with over 200o newly-renovated guest rooms, wedding guests needn’t leave the hotel at all, since all wedding events and services can take place in one convenient location.
The Wedding Department at The Grand Sierra has been an institution since the hotel was built in 1978 under the MGM Grand name. The new chapel holds up to 85 guests in their pews with the option of holding up to 130 guests with some additional chairs that can be brought out and set up. Besides the new bride and groom lounges, The Grand Sierra Resort Chapel boasts a cake and champagne lounge, which opens up onto their outdoor patio for simple or elaborate indoor/outdoor receptions. There is also a remodeled garden venue that can hold up to 125 guests.
Is your guest count above 130 ? Not to worry- the hotel still has over 200,000 square feet of banquet space for more elaborate or larger-sized events as well as all wedding-related events such as rehearsal dinners, welcome receptions and farewell brunches.
